Gifts Under Ten Dollars

Ok, so every year we exchange names with the Heiner family. This year we had a ten dollar limit. Let's just say I had no idea what to do. I've been itching to use my awesome sewing machine and my mom gave me an awesome idea! She made bags like these with her young women out of placemats!!! When my family came into town a couple weeks ago my mom and I went a little craft crazy. We found awesome placemats at the dollar store, ribbon, beads, buttons and tubing from Ace Hardware. My mom and I were up late pulling ribbon through tubes and running to Michael's for gross grain ribbon. When my mom left we had finished one bag and that was it! I was nervous to sew on my own but it became an addiction! I kept finding cute things to sew on the purses too! I hurried quick and was able to finish the rest in time for Christmas so I could give them to my sister-in-law and cute nieces.
So long story short it is possible for an amateur sewer to make a gift under ten bucks!

I am a little obsessed with crocheting right now too. It was so fun making this beanie!!! My mom taught me how to crochet when I was little but I wanted to learn how to crochet a beanie. Thank you YOU TUBE. This is the link if you're interested in the flower or beanie

Mel, those bags are so dang cute! How creative! That first one is WAY cute! That beanie is super cute too. I don't know if you remember doing this, but, one time when we were little I came to sleep over at your house and I brought my crocheting. My mom had just taught me how. I brought green yarn and we crocheted together. I don't know why I remember that so well! I still love to crochet (when I have time)! I crocheted Reese a pink and white baby doll blanket for Christmas! SO cute! I hope you had a Merry Christmas!
