The Wheels are Off....

Well, the training wheels have been off for a while, the girls just wouldn't ride their bikes without them.
I kept wanting to put them back on (I tend to coddle), but my wise husband kept telling me they needed to learn.
Saturday was a big day for Hailey... and for Kate. My sweet, careful Hailey rode her bike without training wheels for the first time. With her fear now conquered she rides like a pro.
Kate was crying on the sidewalk upset that I wasn't helping her. So with Hailey riding on her own, I started helping Kate. Sure enough after a couple tries and with Kate's incessant "Mom, let go" she was instantly a skilled bike rider.
A neighbor saw the girls and told Kate she had some old knee and elbow pads she could have. She won't ride without them, especially since they are princess and say "Believe in Your Dreams" all over them.
We had a great day and many, many popsicles.

What an exciting day for Hailey and Kate! I can just imagine how fun it was to see them take off!!!
It's hard to let go of the back of the bike seat as a parent, actually hard to just "let go" like Kate mentioned. It's how we learn and gain confidence in ourselves. Thanks for posting. You two are wonderful parents!

Such cute pictures of their beginning bike days! I loved how Kate acted so cool when she got off her bike when she ran into the curb--like it was all meant to me. That was darling!

Wow, seeing these cute little girls on their bikes took me back to learning how to ride and keep a good balance only we didn't get to learn on such nicely-sized bikes. We had to learn on regular big bikes and it wasn't exactly easy. Keep up the good work, Kate and Hailey!! They are really growing up.

That was a darling post! Isn't it amazing how the second one advances quicker because of the older sibling leading the way. Your backdrop of the Timpanogos Temple is so beautiful.

I actually remember when John Daniel rode off without training wheels. He was very young that's all I remember and he's been riding on wheels ever since. Love your Blog updates the kids look so cute and I love the back drop too.
